Looking Good with Inexpensive Jewelry

I often see people wearing plastic or custom jewelry. In fact, I know some people who prefer wearing because it’s less expensive than real ones. There are fancy jewelries which look real but then these usually are made of materials that tarnish over time so even if they look pretty initially, the look will fade because of wear and tear. Besides, most fancy jewelries are not hypo-allergenic and may cause rashes. So if you were to ask me, I would rather settle for inexpensive sterling silver jewelry that’s made of genuine precious metal than waste my money on fancy ones that are only good for one use.

I actually prefer silver jewelry over gold. In my opinion, silver is more elegant and dramatic. Silver jewelry is also very easy to match with any color of dress so it’s very versatile. I’m actually looking for a pair of sterling silver inexpensive earrings that I can wear for everyday use. Since most of my jewelries are silver, it wouldn’t be hard for me to mix and match the pieces I have. The good thing about sterling silver jewelries is that it’s not very hard to find them in jewelry stores and even in online shops.

I also plan to buy matching inexpensive necklaces for me and my kids. I don’t think buying inexpensive pieces is a sign of stinginess. Rather, it’s exercising practicality and frugality. Times like these, buying jewelries at exorbitant prices is senseless. This is especially true since it is now possible to buy genuine pieces at cheap prices. You just need to have a good eye for beautiful pieces, pieces that look expensive. As long as you know how to carry yourself well, you’d still be able to look good even if you’re wearing inexpensive jewelry. All it takes is a bit of sense, style and practicality.

Bag Shopping to the Max

There’s something about bags and women that most people can’t seem to explain. But the truth is bags are very practical for women no matter what the size of the bag is. A woman is typically not a “pocket person”. This means that unlike men, women don’t rely on their pockets to carry their valuables – car keys, mobile phone and wallet. That’s why women normally go crazy when they step inside a designer purse outlet because all types of bags, from simple ones to the much coveted ones, are all there like fruits ripe for the picking!

I can definitely say that I am a bag person. But as a mother, I usually go for large totes or those big hobo bags which can hold everything I need to bring when I go out of the house like extra clothes for the kids, extra bottle of milk for my youngest, and other things a mother usually brings when she steps out of the house. I bet if you take me to a guess purse outlet, I would shop to the max for large purses and I would come out of it with a huge smile on my face and large shopping bags in each hand.

Actually, I’m not really after the brand or label of the bag. However, if there are affordable branded bags, why shouldn’t I go for them instead, right? I know that I can never go wrong with the quality if I opt for designer label bags. But since I know that they are pricier than others, I’d opt for shopping in outlet stores like the fossil purse outlet because the bags there are cheaper and authentic as well. Bag shopping to the max at outlet stores is a wonderful money-saving idea.

Modern Scrubs

Basically, today, all types of medical uniforms that consist of the combination of a short-sleeved shirt plus pants are considered as scrubs. An example would be nursing scrubs that nurses use whenever they are on duty or in the surgery room.

There is no exact color designation, but it has been noted that the scrubs that are worn in surgery are usually solid light green, light green-blue, or light blue. Although there have been moves to change the colors to pink so as to prevent theft. Unlike the usual nurse uniform, the surgical scrubs are rarely owned by the wearer and are often the property of the hospital. This is because there are some issues when it comes to sterility as well as home laundering.

On the other hand, the scrubs that are not used for surgical use come in various colors and patterns. Sometimes the scrubs pant is made out of solid color, while the top is in some kind of colorful patterns that the makers have decided to use. Incidentally, the more colorful versions of scrub suits are used by nurses or doctors working in pediatrics in an attempt to make things lighter or cheerful. Some hospitals also have their own “hospital colors” used as scrubs for identification.

Aside from that, there are scrub caps that are often used in operating rooms rather than on a frequent basis. Although it used to be something more generic in appearance, some medical practitioners have started adding a little style to their scrubs by making their own caps or just purchasing some hats that are made out of eclectic fabric. Some of the popular styles that have gone popular through the ages include the hairnet-like hat, the bouffant style, the milkmaid, as well as the bonnet-like wrap hat. Either way, it is now the call of the hospital if they allow such mode of clothing or not.

The Death of Busy

There is a saying by Lao Tzu that says, “Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.”

Here’s the thing. If you stop being busy, then your job is already half done. Crazy concept, but humor me for a moment. Fact is that most people have developed a kind of thinking wherein they believe that if they are so busy, they must be somebody important.

You hear people grumbling day in, and day out: “I have too many things to do! I am so out of time! I have a need for speed – Busy-ness makes you that way.” Sounds familiar? Perhaps you said those things before. This is not your fault, it’s just that the world is becoming a society that is measured by productivity, activity, and being extremely occupied.

Just stop it. Stop being busy and slow down. If you do so, you will learn to focus on the things that need to be done and you will soon realize that your schedule is quite clear and your to-do list is almost – not there.

One step is all it takes to start this revolution: say to yourself, “I am not going to be busy anymore.” And although you may not have total control of your schedule, it would seem that things are clearer, and just easier to tackle.

7 Most Important Events In The History Of Psychology

Deciding on the 7 most important events in the history of psychology is a challenge but it can be done. There are some events in the history of psychology that were so monumental that they are clearly the most important events of all. Here are those 7 most important events in the history of psychology.

The Establishment Of Psychology As Its Own Discipline

One of the most important events in the history of psychology was the establishment of psychology as a new field of study. This happened thanks to Wilhelm Wundt who created the first real psychology lab. For psychology to even have a distinct history it had to first be delineated as its own field.

The Discovery Of The Unconscious Mind

Sigmund Freud is perhaps the biggest name in the history of psychology and he earns this honor for a number of reasons. One of his greatest contributions was the idea of the subconscious mind. The idea that people have thoughts of which they are unaware that motivate their behavior was revolutionary.

Ivan Pavlov's Research On Conditioning

Ivan Pavlov's work went away from trying to measure pure thought to focusing on observable behavior and this was of great importance in his experiments on conditioning. He showed behavioral conditioning as a major factor in human behavior. He showed that this type of conditioning worked with dogs too. This was a move back to studying observable behavior.

Karl Lashley's Work With Rats

Karl Lashley had rats learn mazes and then removed portions of their brains to see which part of the brain would inhibit their ability to complete known mazes. His discovery that it was the amount of the brain that was removed and not the specific part that mattered was thrilling. It led to countless other studies on both animals and humans that would come to show that the brain can in many cases reassign portions of itself to handle tasks once handled by portions that have been removed or damaged.

Feminine Psychology

This is less a single event than the creation of a new point of view but it was a turning point in psychology. Historically a male dominated field, psychology now gained a new perspective that did not belittle or ignore women as many previous psychological studies had. The creation of feminine psychology both demonstrated a new viewpoint and showed that the understanding and study of psychology is heavily influenced by the personal point of view and bias of the psychologist.

The Viewpoint Of Rogerian Therapy

The creation of Rogerian therapy brought about a viewpoint that saw the patient not as a test subject to be studied but as a person with inherent value. This therapy is based on the belief that patients have the ability to heal themselves in most cases through self-acceptance and self respect.

The Invention Of Cognitive Psychology

Cognitive psychology concerns itself with the receiving, interpretation, storage, and retention of information. This is a broad field that talks not only about the information a person receives but about how that person receives, understands, and holds on to that information. Many feel that this type of psychology allows for a more complete understanding of how the mind works and why people behave as they do.

These are the 7 most important events in the history of psychology. Each one contributed incalculable amounts of inspiration and information to those who followed these developments. Without them, psychology would not be what it is today.

Boost Relationships and Be Sociable

I know a lot of people who are socially awkward. I guess this is because most people are now restricted by the fact that they sit all day long in front of computers and do not have time to go out and socialize. It is a good thing that there are websites that allow online dating and meeting with other people such as BeNaughty.com and other social networking sites that open doors for being more sociable.

Of course, nobody can do anything if a person refuses to interact with others, but really, in some cases, dating online is easier than dating in real life. At least, if you think about it, dates are safer online because these do not really require any human physical interaction.

However, this does not mean to say that there are no hazards of online dating. It is a known fact that there are a number of people who have been victimized by predators online because they have let their guard down when it comes to dating online. If you are into dating online, it is always best to make sure that there are a lot of people when meeting for the first time, as well as making sure that protection and defense mechanisms are at an optimum.

Diamond Rings for the Ladies

Jewelry shopping is not in my list of priorities right now especially since we will be moving anytime soon and I need to have enough funds for the transition. But of course that doesn’t that I don’t think about buying jewelry for myself and for my kids.

In fact, I’m already trying to find out how much a few pieces of 1.5 carat diamond cost. Perhaps it would be a good idea to buy several pieces at once and maybe I’d get a discount. I’d rather buy the pieces uncut and just have the jeweler resize it to fit in on the ring designs I will choose. I’m going to have to search for 1.5 carat diamond ring, platinum, price at some websites so I’ll have an idea how a custom made platinum diamond ring would cost me.

I also plan to canvass for the price of 1.5 carat black diamond ring for my mom. I’m sure a black diamond will look good on her. I’d probably also look for .50 carat diamond price so I can have diamond rings made for my two daughters. It’s good to invest on diamonds because they increase in value over time.
